07 - 1 tablespoon chia seeds
08 - 1 teaspoon honey or agave syrup
09 - Ice cubes, as needed

# Steps:

01 - Place the frozen mango chunks, pineapple chunks, sliced banana, orange juice, coconut milk, and vanilla protein powder into a high-speed blender.
02 - If desired, add chia seeds, honey or agave syrup, and a handful of ice cubes for a colder, thicker consistency.
03 - Blend on high speed until the mixture is completely smooth and creamy, scraping down the sides of the blender jar as needed.
04 - Pour the smoothie evenly into two glasses and serve immediately. Garnish with a slice of fresh fruit or a sprinkle of chia seeds if desired.

# Expert Advice:

01 -
  • The frozen fruit does double duty by eliminating ice and concentrating the flavor into something that tastes closer to dessert than health food.
  • It takes literally five minutes from freezer to glass which makes it the most reliable morning ritual you will ever build.
02 -
  • Add the protein powder after the liquids or it will clump into stubborn little balls that never fully dissolve no matter how long you blend.
  • Frozen fruit is non negotiable if you want that thick creamy texture because fresh fruit turns the smoothie watery and flat.
03 -
  • Freeze your banana slices flat on a parchment lined tray before bagging them so they blend evenly instead of jamming the blade.
  • Taste the smoothie before adding honey because ripe mango and banana are often sweet enough on their own and extra sugar just masks the tropical flavor.
