Bacon Wrapped Asparagus (Printable)

Tender asparagus bundles wrapped in crispy bacon, roasted until golden and smoky.

# What You Need:

→ Vegetables

01 - 1 lb fresh asparagus spears, woody ends trimmed

→ Meats

02 - 8 slices thin-cut bacon

→ Seasonings

03 - 1 tbsp olive oil
04 - 1/2 tsp freshly ground black pepper
05 - 1/2 tsp garlic powder
06 - 1/4 tsp sea salt

# Steps:

01 - Preheat oven to 400°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or aluminum foil.
02 - Rinse asparagus spears thoroughly and trim approximately 1 inch from the tough woody ends.
03 - Divide asparagus into 8 equal bundles, each containing 5-6 spears depending on thickness.
04 - Drizzle olive oil over asparagus bundles. Sprinkle with sea salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. Toss gently to coat evenly.
05 - Wrap each asparagus bundle with one slice of bacon, starting at the tip and spiraling around to the base. Place seam-side down on prepared baking sheet.
06 - Bake for 18-22 minutes until bacon is crispy and asparagus is tender-crisp. For extra crispy bacon, broil for 1-2 minutes at the end, watching carefully to prevent burning.
07 - Transfer to a serving platter and serve immediately while hot. Can be served as an appetizer or alongside grilled meats and main courses.

# Expert Advice:

01 -
  • The bacon renders down and creates its own seasoning, so every bite is perfectly savory without much effort
  • These disappear from plates faster than anything else I serve, yet they take literally five minutes to prepare
02 -
  • Dont crowd the baking sheet or the bacon will steam instead of crisp up, and nobody wants limp bacon on their vegetables
  • If your asparagus is particularly thick, give it a 2-minute head start in the oven before wrapping with the bacon
03 -
  • Look for asparagus spears that are similar in thickness so each bundle cooks at the same rate
  • If the asparagus tips start browning too quickly, tent the pan loosely with foil for the last few minutes
